In 2007 the Mid-Michigan PHC got involved in the Polar Plunge because of a challenge from the Detroit PHC. We had so much fun we started working on it as soon as we got word of the 2008 event.
The 2008 team was much larger than the 2007 team.

The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 10, 2008. It was 35 below with the wind chills on that date. Thinking that wouldn't be fun for anyone involved, the organizers moved it to February 24.
The new date did mean some of our team couldn't make it to the actual event, but they still helped with the fund raising.

The new date brought us temperatures in the 30s, gentle breezes, and bright sunshine. The police and fire fighters who cut the hole in the ice and provided safety for the event were MUCH happier with the new conditions.
The news reports talked about how it was, in effect, 65 degrees warner than the original date. Sounds almost like swimming weather, right?

We're still looking to add more photos, so be sure to email midmichiganphc@aol.com if you have any.
Last year we were the #2 team in Lansing, raising over $2,100 in the short time we had once we became aware of the event.
This year we were the #1 team, raising over $8,500. We're already thinking about next year. Maybe we can do even better in 2009.
Thank you to the Detroit Parrot Head Club for the challenge last year.
