RUM CHUMSThe Mid-Michigan Parrot Head Club (Rum Chums) is a carefree social group formed to promote friendships and fun in the spirit of a tropical lifestyle and Jimmy Buffett music. We are a non-profit group that is interested in helping with environmental and charitable concerns within our local community. MMPHC was formed in May 2003 after a chance encounter aboard Parrothead Cruise 2003. To date we have raised over $45,000 for local charities while having a lot of fun along the way. On April 22, 2009 we lost a wonderful Parrothead, Chris Keene. Below is the information that will be put in the paper this week. As I get word about a celebration of his life I will pass it along. For those of you who are trying to place him, he always wore the tanish/green fishing hat to functions. His smile and dance moves will be missed. The club will be sending a donation in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Mr. Keene be made to the Stockbridge Education Foundation, c/o Stockbridge Community Schools, 305 West Elizabeth, Stockbridge, MI 49285. Condolences can be sent to The Keene Family, 2030 Lac Du Mont, Haslett, MI 48840.

Freezin' for a Reason - 3rd year in a rowMarch 1, 2009 - The Mid-Michigan Parrot Head Club was the #2 team locally, and the #4 team in the state of Michigan for the 2009 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. This picture is of our 2 top fund raisers ... Lee raised more than $1700 and Jana raised more than $2100. The team total was $5030. We're already plotting for next year. Some of our members are active in the Margarita M.A.F.I.A., "Musicians, Artists and Fans in Alliance" supporting various "Trop-Rock" performers.
